Borealis goes short and long with glass fiber PP compound series; starts production in Italy

Borealis (6/A43) and group sales and marketing company Borouge (Singapore) have launched a series of engineered short (SGF) and long glass fiber (LGF) polypropylene (PP) that consolidates its Xmod and Nepol glass fiber brands under one common name: Fibremod. K 2013: Wittmann creates 3D inspection for round IML containers

An “all-wheel” drive concept will allow the creation of four inmold labeled 300-ml cups in a 4.5-second cycle at K for Wittmann Battenfeld (hall 10, booth A04). In this process, both cog belt wheels of the horizontal axis are synchronized and driven by dynamic drive systems, allowing acceleration rates of up to 110 m/sec. Wittmann also said it has created a 3D high-speed inspection station for checking IML decorations, calling it a world’s first.

K 2013: Thermoplay introducing new FN nozzle family

Thermoplay SpA will introduce its new FN series nozzle family to replace the current F series. The new FN series will reduce maintenance time to replace the heater and the thermocouple, which can now be performed without having to remove the nozzle tip. The FN nozzles are available in diameters of 16, 24, 32 and 46 mm with the same standard lengths as the F series. These new FN series nozzles can be seen in Hall 2/Stand F12.

Toray plans Korean PPS resin plant

K 2013 exhibitor Toray Industries, Inc. (Tokyo) plans to construct a 8,600-tonnes/yr production plant for polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) resin in South Korea. The facility located in the Saemangeum Industrial Complex in Gunsan, Jeollabuk Province, is Toray’s first manufacturing base for PPS resin outside of Japan. StackTeck showcases advanced technologies
