New cyclic olefin copolymer (COC) film grade targets food packaging

Topas Advanced Polymers will feature its new film extrusion grade of cyclic olefin copolymer (COC), the 7010F-600, which features a glass transition temperature of 110°C and extrusion capabilities for multilayer food packaging, at K 2013 (Oct. 16-23, in Düsseldorf, Germany). The company will showcase its line of COC resins in Booth 7A05, which will be shared with its parent company, Polyplastics (Tokyo).

K 2013: Silvergate gearing up for global expansion

In keeping with a tradition of companies announcing news at the K, Silvergate Plastics, a UK manufacturer of white, black, color and additive masterbatches, is planning to announce a major expansion at K 2013.

The company is further investing in its manufacturing capability to accommodate a significant increase in capacity, product range and geographical reach. With plans for a greater international presence, Silvergate (Hall 05, Stand B40) says it will be well positioned to provide even more support for its growing customer base across the globe.

K 2013: New kid on the TPE block

The Swedish HEXPOL TPE group (Hall 8a, stand H18) is a relatively new kid on the TPE block. After diversifying into TPE in 2010 with the acquisition of the ELASTO businesses in Britain and Sweden, Hexpol went on to acquire German TPE compounder Müller Kunststoffe in 2012, and to successfully establish a key global organization for TPE and polymer compounding that is presenting its latest advances in TPE and flexible polymer solutions at K2013.

Both material and machine providers join forces on clear PP product

At K 2013 (Oct. 16-23; Dusseldorf, Germany), Kiefel, SML, Braskem and Milliken will combine both machine and material capabilities for a clear polypropylene product. Transparent, deep-draw cups produced live by Kiefel will let visitors see the high clarity and performance that can be achieved with Braskem’s Inspire 224 PP containing Milliken’s clarifying agent, Millad NXTM 8000, according to a news release. 

Addex Inc. to unveil new capabilities for Automatic Gauge Control (AGC) at K 2013

Addex Inc., a global supplier of blown film equipment and components, will launch several new unique capabilities for its automatic external gauge control (EGC) systems for blown film extrusion lines. The company says that these new software-related functionalities deliver greater flexibility for processors, enabling easy retrofits of existing or new systems in order to provide reduced thickness variation, increased yields, and raw material savings. Addex will make the introduction at K 2013 (Hall 17 Booth C54).

K 2013: New film die allows structures up to 11 layers with any barrier tech

A new die for coextruding barrier films up to 11 layers can be used to produce structures using any barrier material including nylon, EVOH, PETG, and PVdC. Extrusion technology supplier Macro Engineering & Technology Inc. will introduce the new FlatPack die at K 2013 (Hall 16 at Stand B06).

K 2013: Expanded tonnage range helps all-electric Arburgs tackle medical molding

Arburg’s electric Edrive and Alldrive series will dominate its stand (Hall 13 Stand A13) with five machines running. Three 3200 and 4000 kN machines will cover the higher clamping force range, with multi-component molding to feature prominently according to the firm. Among the highlights: the Allrounder 820 A, which completes the high-end electric Alldrive machine series, will debut in Düsseldorf.
