U.S. shale gas, growth in Asia discussed at K 2013 preview

Düsseldorf, Germany—K 2010 was a pretty significant show for battenfeld-cincinnati. Created in April 2010, a few months before the international trade fair, the formal combination of Battenfeld Extrusionstechnik GmbH (Bad Oeynhausen, Germany) and Cincinnati Extrusion GmbH (Vienna, Austria), was divided into three divisions—construction, infrastructure, and packaging—that supply extrusion equipment for pipes, profiles, film, and sheet.

Now three years later, and with another K on the horizon, the Bad Oeynhausen/Vienna-based company is placing a greater emphasis on "green" technology.

Davis-Standard to showcase new developments in extrusion coating, cast film, and medical tubing

Düsseldorf, Germany - Davis-Standard will feature its recently-introduced dsX technology during K 2013, which will include the dsX flex-pack extrusion coating line, the unveiling of the dsX s-tretch line for cast film and a new dsX med-tube medical tubing system.

In addition, the company will offer a scheduled shuttle service to its Erkrath facility where the dsX flex-pack extrusion coating line and dsX s-tretch cast film line will be showcased.

What a Show! K 2010 proves a huge success

With attendance through Tuesday evening hitting 207,500 unique visitors, the K tradeshow once again worked its magnet-like pull on the industry’s experts, bringing processors together from around the world to discover the best the suppliers have to offer. Needless to say, exhibitors are thrilled at the strength of the show. “Fantastic!” was the response that KSD staffers heard at stands large and small, and across all processes.

Graham Packaging building all-electric blowmolders in Poland

Through a licensing agreement with Japan’s Tahara Machinery, Graham Packaging is manufacturing ESM series all-electric extrusion blowmolding machines at its affiliate in Poland. The second machine manufactured by Graham Packaging Poland is on show at K at The Japan Steel Works (JSW) booth (Stand 14C37-1). JSW is the parent company of Tahara.

Hosokawa Alpine promotes five-layer system’s flexibility

To display the flexibility of its extrusion technology and the structure of the film, Hosokawa Alpine (Stand 16D6) has run three different versions of a five-layer film structure at its booth during the show, using polyolefins from ExxonMobil Chemical, Nova Chemicals (Stand 6A43), and Sabic (Stand 6D42), all without edge trim.

Recycling system tackles challenging materials

Recycling multilayer, heavily printed film, moist materials, and highly contaminated plastics into pellets suitable for use in high-quality film products is now possible with the Erema TVEplus series from Erema Engineering Recycling (Stand 9C05). On show at K is the 1310 version with screw diameter of 100 mm with capacity up to 650 kg/hr.
